The objective of the Investment Incentives programme is to dispatch the public services to which SMEs are entitled when they apply for or have already obtained the benefit of one of the regimes of the Investment Charter and the law establishing incentives for private investment in Cameroon.

The Investment Incentives programme proposed by the Cameroon Small and Medium Enterprises Agency (APME) aims to provide the public services to which SMEs are entitled, which apply for or have already obtained the benefit of one of the regimes of the Investment Charter and the law establishing incentives for private investment.  T

he programme is aimed at Cameroonian entrepreneurs and investors, as well as those from the Cameroonian diaspora, and offers:

  • Investor assistance in the administrative procedures complementary to the execution of investment programmes.
  • Formalities necessary for the execution of investment programmes.
  • Formalities for obtaining environmental compliance certificates.
  • Investor assistance in procedures for exemption from:
  1. taxes and customs duties on all equipment and materials related to the investment programme;
  2. technical assistance costs in proportion to the overall amount of investment;
  3. VAT on services related to the implementation of the project from abroad.
  • Assistance to SMEs in obtaining the necessary visas for the execution of the proposed investment programmes for the validity period of the agreement.
  • Obtention of the necessary visas for foreign staff during the validity period of the approval act.
  • Assisting investors in the procedures necessary for the implementation of their investment programmes.
  • Helping investors to obtain, for their foreign staff, the visas and residence permits necessary for the implementation of their investment programmes.  

The mechanism aims, in a broader framework:

  • to spread the word about the law establishing incentives for private investment;
  • to fast-track applications for approval;
  • to monitor the implementation of approval conventions, to assess national and sectoral policies relating to investment incentives in favour of SMEs;
  • to be a driving force for their improvement, as well as to produce statistics relating to activities on investment incentives in Cameroon.

The ultimate objective is to boost wealth and job creation by SMEs in Cameroon.
